Next Wednesday and Rob and I will be back in Charleston. Last year’s visit was my first and an incredible whirlwind of food and fun. We’re getting all our ducks in a row and making plans to ensure that this trip is even more fun (there’s a ghost tour involved). When I travel, I’m really not usually interested in making repeat trips to restaurants or attractions. There are of course exceptions, and The Hominy Grill is definitely one of them. You can read my post from last year as well as notes on my first attempt at shrimp and grits (it was a success) here, but I wanted to share a recipe that I found for the Cheerwine Negroni that I fancied so much. I don’t always like gin and it may have been the pink solo cup or the fact that I ordered it out of a window, but this was a fantastic cocktail.
To make this at home pour 1 oz gin, 1 oz aperol and 1 oz sweet vermouth in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour into a glass, top with Cheerwine and serve with orange wedge garnish.0
