I fall more in love with the city of Pittsburgh (the football team removed) every time we visit. This particular dining experience helped the city woo me even more.
We met a friend of Rob’s for lunch in the Strip District. This stand-alone sushi operation is inside Wholey’s Seafood Market. I actually think I could be dragged away from my beloved Frederick to have markets like this close by. I’m very jealous of Rob’s friend who works within walking distance of the incredible sushi at Andy’s Sushi Bar.
I’m glad we had to wait in line for a few minutes, I had a very tough decision to make. Eventually I settled on the Pittsburgh Roll (when in Rome, right?) and the Mango and Salmon Roll.
The Pittsburgh Roll, filled with shrimp, crab, cucumber, avocado, and sweet hot sauce.
Mango and Salmon Roll was probably the most refreshing sushi roll I’ve ever had. It was also full of lots of fresh mint.
We’ll be back in the ‘burgh for a few days leading up to Christmas, I think a second tasting is in order!
